Repulsor beams

Repulsor Fields

Paul Hill (1995) Unconventional Flying Objects, a scientific analysis, (Amazon, copy). Book review by Hal Puthoff.

Hill explores in some detail the kind of repulsive field that UFOs would need to show the manner of flying we see. Repulsive (and some attractive) field are shown to minimize the shock waves normally produced at high speed,  by repelling the air moving around the craft so that laminar flows are maintained even when traveling about the speed of sound.

Hill wants a focusable repulsive push away from the ground. Compared with rockets, this is efficient in the same way that poling a boat, using wheels on the ground, and space elevators do not waste much energy high-speed exhaust gases.  He imagines that such could be accomplished by emitting anti-gravitons, even though it cannot be from a field that is like gravity but in the opposite direction like anti-gravity. Such a repulsive force field, he shows, would explain very many observed details of UFO motion.

Comments:

  1. Does not explain the source of energy for UFO travel.
  2. All force fields known by quantum field theory act by exchanging bosons. This however does not give a 'push' without wasting energy, since the bosons are behave indeed like exhaust gases. Repelling the earth by emitting particles does not increase travel velocity as would repelling the earth by a barge-pole.

  3. The overall effect of a repulsor force field that can be operated at a distance is to go outside the 'Weak Equivalence Principle'. That is the principle that "free-fall trajectories are independent of body composition". If we start with a repulsor craft at altitude, it's center-of-mass rises up (as no  exhaust), whereas another body of equal mass of solid would fall down. This means that the repulsor mechanism cannot be part of a metric theory of gravity, and so is far from a plausible extension of Einstein's General Relativity.
  4. The above 2 conclusions show repulsors are different in the most basic aspects both from general relativity and from quantum field theory.
